Hi, I’m Valerie Cheer! I’m passionate about sports communication and storytelling. From analyzing games to creating hype reels, I thrive on bringing sports stories to life.
I've been a grew up a Dodger's fan in the suburbs of Los Angeles and took my first film class in middle school. I realized my two passions could come together in high school when I started and produced my own sports morning show in my high school broadcast program. I was filming on the sidelines of nearly every game and made countless sports recaps and athlete spotlights. My passion for sports runs deep, and I want to bring fans closer to their favorite athletes and teams.
I've refined my skills anchoring, editing, writing, producing, filming, and producing through 6 years of broadcast education. I presented, competed 5 times, and interned at the STN national convention, and have been a producer at Castaic High School's broadcast program for 2 years.
Whether through film, reporting, writing, or editing, I want to make games larger than life for fans, like myself, and recognize athlete's hard work. I’m excited to bring my sports journalism talents to California State University Long Beach in fall of 2025 to develop my skills. Let’s connect and talk all things sports, media, and storytelling!
